"The Peterson Story" 

James Peterson began this remarkable venture back in the late 1930’s with a homemade slusher hauling dirt, pulled by a team of horses.  Today we are a 4th generation business.  Since 1999, the scope of services has expanded dramatically with the acquisition of Buteyn Excavating and Grading Company, renamed to Buteyn-Peterson Company, Inc. (BPC, Inc.) along with the addition of Lakeland Enterprises, now the Utility Division of James Peterson Sons, Inc, (JPS, Inc.). As we continue to grow, we still cherish our founder's work ethic and we are committed to leading our industry in honesty, integrity, safety and exceeding our customers expectations.

Our spirit of cooperation, quality workmanship and timely execution of projects may be verified by consulting engineers, private citizens and state agencies. Our companies  employ over 160 people including operating engineers, teamsters, laborers, mechanics, project supervisors, engineers and office staff.  JPS, Inc. and BPC, Inc. are equal opportunity employers.

Our companies operate a complete line of excavating and hauling equipment which includes bulldozers, scrapers, motor graders, backhoes, loaders, compaction equipment, dump trucks and a complete spread of rock crushing and screening equipment. In addition we own over twenty-five gravel pits. The equipment is fully maintained with portable field maintenance facilities to produce on-time completion of projects.
