For the 2nd year in a row, James Peterson Sons, Inc. (Medford, WI) was the recipient of the WisDOT’s Excellence in Grading Award. This year’s award was given for their work on the Hwy 51 project between Tomahawk and Minocqua in Oneida County. This award was given Jan 25, 2018 at the Contractor-Engineer Conference in Madison. James Peterson Sons, Inc – Medford, WI is in the process of demolishing the 1,300 feet of leaking wood stave penstock at Grandfather Falls Hydroelectric Plant, Merrill, WI and replacing it with new base material and a steel penstock. The wood stave was part of a 1938 Wisconsin Public Service Corporation(WPSC) project to take advantage of the natural 92 foot drop at Grandfather Falls. Utilizing these wood staves to divert water to the falls, the Grandfather Falls Hydroelectric plant generates 17
PETERSON CONCRETE WAS A MAJOR SPONSOR IN GETTING THE PACKERS TAILGATE TOUR TO MEDFORD. MEDFORD WAS PICKED AS ONE OF 5 STOPS THAT WAS MADE BY THE PACKERS ON THEIR ANNUAL TOUR. OVER 1000 TICKETS WERE SOLD, PICTURES WERE TAKEN, AUTOGRAPHS WERE GIVEN AS THE PACKERS STOPPED IN TO SUPPORT A LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, BLACK RIVER INDUSTRIES.
